iPad 3 to Arrive In March with LTE, Quad-Core Processor, and Retina Display?

A series of reports from rather reliable sources such as Bloomberg and Macotakara claims Apple's manufacturing partners are working 24 hours a day so that Apple will be able to launch the iPad 3 in March. Not only do the reports claim that the device will sport a retina display that will make some graphics look as clear as printed copies (we're almost sure of this because of how many reports it's been in), they claim that a quad-core processor will be used to speed up the iPad 3 dramatically. Also, a new graphics processor will be so quick that videos will begin to play almost instantly.

The only thing the reports can't seem to agree on is the form factor. Some say that Apple is adopting Sharp's IGZO technology to allow for a thinner iPad, while others say Apple has turned down Sharp's offer, and will be sacrificing a little thickness in order to use high resolution IPS displays from Samsung and LG.

Arguably the most exciting piece of information is that Apple will be bringing LTE to the iPad 3. Apple will bring this technology to the iPad before the iPhone because the iPad has a bigger battery, so it can maintain a longer battery life while LTE is in use.

New Study Reveals AT&T is the Fastest Carrier, Sprint with the Most Dropped Calls

Metrico Wireless has just released the results of a study based on 21,000 nationwide web page downloads and 6,000 voice calls that has revealed some very surprising results.

AT&T was by far the fastest carrier in terms of data speeds. AT&T is usually regarded as very slow, but for some reason the iPhone 4S loads web pages very quickly with AT&T. Verizon's data speed came in second place, while Sprint's data speed only reached an average of 581 kbps on the iPhone 4S. This speed is 5x slower than AT&T's data speed. As for calling, people you call will be able to hear you best if you use Sprint, but you will be able to hear people you call best with AT&T.

The most surprising piece of data that the study revealed was the dropped call rate of all three carriers. While most people would assume that AT&T would have by far the highest dropped call rate, Sprint actually dropped the most calls with a 3.7% dropped call rate. AT&T came in second with a 2.8% rate, and Verizon came in first with a 2.1% dropped call rate.

White iPhone 4 shows up in Verizon's database

Now we have two proofs that the white iPhone is coming; and really soon. First off, Phil Schiller tweeted that the white iPhone 4 would be coming this spring. He included that it is a beauty. And now, a white iPhone 4 has appeared in Verizon's inventory. How can we tell from this screenshot? Well, the white iPhone 4 is MC679 and the black model is MC678. The same pattern goes for the black iPad 2 and the white iPad 2! As for the exact release date, it is believed to be the end of April.

Verizon cuts iPad 1 Wi-Fi prices to $299-$499, AT&T still at $429-$529 for Wi-Fi+3G

Would you really love to get an iPad but not love to drain $500? Well, you can get a Wi-Fi only iPad 1 for just $299-$499 from Verizon! While Apple is only cutting prices by $100 on the first iPad, Verizon is cutting prices by $200 as they get rid of the last iPad 1s. Confidentail Verizon screenshots have been leaked! The results; the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is coming to Verizon! We can figure this out because one product is listed as "HTC63503", with the description "INCRD2".

iPhone and iPad to support Verizon's 4G LTE network?

When I was making an idea for the next iPhone (I do that kind of stuff for fun), one of the ideas I came up with was for the iPhone to support Verizon's 4G LTE network. Well, Dan Mead (CEO of Verizon Wireless) told the Wall Street Journal that we are going to "see more coming from Apple on LTE. They understand the value proposition of LTE and I feel very confident that they are going to be a part of it." He would not give any more details, not even when this 4G iPhone would come out. Considering that 4G networks are about 3 times faster than 3G networks, a 4G iPhone would certainly please many business users or people who use a lot of data.

Many other sources have also failed to realize that this could signal for a 4G iPad. This might be even more of an improvment, as iPad users typically browse the web and buffer videos a lot, which is much better using a 4G network.

Motorola Xoom up for Pre-Order; Release Date Feb. 24

February 24 really will be a big day! Not only will the new MacBook Pros come out, but the Motorola Xoom tablet will be released! You can pre-order it now on Best Buy. It will only be avaliable as a 3G model, and will have a rather high price tag of $800. Motorola should release a Wi-Fi only model a little bit later, and that will carry a price tag of $600. Meanwhile, I can supply you with information about this tablet:

- Runs on Android 3.0 (aka Honeycomb), the latest OS designed for tablets (will it only be for tablets?)
- 720p HD 10.1" display (even larger than the iPad's display, about the size of a netbook's)

AT&T Continues to Fight Back; offers 1,000 free minutes to iPhone users

According to 9 to 5 Mac and AppAdvice, AT&T has started sending messages to some AT&T iPhone owners offering 1,000 free minutes. You can accept them by replying "yes". Also, if you had noticed, AT&T's "Answer" ad was played before the Super Bowl

AT&T "Answers" to the Verizon iPhone

AT&T has just released their first iPhone ad attempting to have users choose an AT&T iPhone. It shows a husband at work. His wife calls, and asks if he's made plans for their anniversary. He says he did, but he is Googling "fine dining" while on the phone. The ad concludes with "Only AT&T's network lets your iPhone talk and surf at the same time". The ad is rather funny; you can watch it here

The Verizon iPhone has Already Sold Out!

The Verizon iPhone will be a killer. Want proof? At 8:10 PM ET on Thursday, only 17 hours after they started accepting pre-orders, they ran out of phones. Unfortunatley, neither Apple nor Verizon would reveal how many phones were sold.

Sprint and T-Mobile iPhones may hit the Market!

The fact that Verizon Wireless will begin selling the iPhone on February 10th has been huge news, and Verizon should sell millions of Verizon iPhone 4s. But, Verizon isn't for everyone. Though it does have the speediest network around, that network could easily get slowed down by all the data Verizon iPhone users use. That could even result in dropped calls. Verizon is also rather pricey. The iPhone 3GS will still be avaliable on AT&T, which as of now is the worst network, but could get cleaned up when the iPhone 4 goes to Verizon. However, AT&T will still remain the worst carrier. In summary, the iPhone still isn't for everyone. Sprint does say that they have a surprise coming February 7th, and it very well could be a Sprint iPhone. After all, Apple has repeatedly reminded us that Verizon has a non-exclusive contract with the iPhone. T-Mobile, one of the less expensive carriers, is showing interest in designing a T-Mobile iPhone. They said they would like to make this happen and that the only thing preventing them from doing so is working out changes in a different 3G frequency. T-Mobile does sell iPhones in Europe. If I were Sprint, I would actually let T-Mobile go ahead and make a T-Moible iPhone, and then boast the fastest network; it would be the only one not packed with data-eating iPhones.

The iPhone 4 is Coming to Verizon!

Finally! After 3.5 years of AT&T, the worst carrier, exclusively carrying the iPhone, the iPhone 4 will be avaliable on Verizon February 10! Apparently, this phone might be able to turn into a personal hotspot, connecting up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices at the same time. AT&T will battle this by offering the iPhone 3GS for only $50, with a super-cheap $25/mo. data plan in hopes to make people think twice before getting a $200 iPhone 4 with expensive plans from Verizon. Apple isn't even stopping at offering a Verizon iPhone; they're bringing the iPad to Verizon also! Great job Apple, for switching from the worst carrier to the best. But why did it take you 3.5 years, may I ask?
