Xoom corp. is suing Motorola for stealing the name "Xoom"!

Xoom corporation is suing Motorola, saying it can't call its tablet the Xoom. While the Xoom tablet was released only 2 days ago, Xoom corporation has been operating online payments much longer, and has owned the domain http://www.xoom.com/ for 8 years.

I think that both Motorola and Xoom corporation should be allowed to keep the name Xoom. After all, how many people are going to buy a Motorola Xoom to find online payment services? Tech companies have often used names of other brands without getting sued. For example, Evo is the name of a winter gear company that has owned http://www.evo.com/ for a very long time, yet HTC still named their phone the Evo 4G.

Motorola Xoom up for Pre-Order; Release Date Feb. 24

February 24 really will be a big day! Not only will the new MacBook Pros come out, but the Motorola Xoom tablet will be released! You can pre-order it now on Best Buy. It will only be avaliable as a 3G model, and will have a rather high price tag of $800. Motorola should release a Wi-Fi only model a little bit later, and that will carry a price tag of $600. Meanwhile, I can supply you with information about this tablet:

- Runs on Android 3.0 (aka Honeycomb), the latest OS designed for tablets (will it only be for tablets?)
- 720p HD 10.1" display (even larger than the iPad's display, about the size of a netbook's)
- Verizon 3G service. Also Wi-Fi capable.
- Dual-core processor
- Supports Adobe Flash Player

Best Buy to accept Motorola Xoom pre-orders for $1,199 on Thursday?!

Of all the posts I've made on Tech n' Cars!, this has been the most shocking. Best Buy is going to accept pre-orders for the Motorola Xoom tablet on Thursday... okay... but for $1,199?!?! There isn't even anything to suggest this is a prank or a mistake! I mean, cool, this tablet has a bigger screen than an iPad and runs Honeycomb, but, I'd rather have a MacBook Pro, thank you very much.

Update: You're in luck: this is just a placeholder number that will soon get updated. The actual price will be $800, only $70 more than a 32GB 3G iPad.
