15" MacBook Air due in March 2012? Update: No, it's a thinner MacBook Pro

New reports say that Apple has received shipments of components that would be used in a 15" ulta-thin laptop. Could this mean that Apple is going to make the MacBook Air available with a 15" screen? It probably does, but you have to keep in mind that Apple could be simply planning to make the MacBook Pro thinner and lighter. This possibility is especially probable considering that the rather squarish unibody design used on the MacBook Pro has been in existence for three years, and has not seen any changes besides minor changes such as sealed batteries, SD card slots and Thunderbolt ports.

This new laptop is expected to hit stores in March 2012, judging by the timing of the shipment of components. Apple won't be the only company trying to hit the 15" screen size on a laptop with a thickness of under 0.8". Both Acer and Asus have plans to release 15" ultrabooks. Acer is planned to release their laptop in March, while Asus has not set up a production schedule.

Update: iLounge has learned that these components are for a new, thinner MacBook Pro, which will be released around March 2012.
