Neutrinos Send Message Through 780 Feet of Stone

Right now, Wi-Fi works by sending messages around the Earth. But what if you could go through the Earth? This would certainly revolutionize technology, as data transfer would be much faster. This idea may seem impossible, because you'd think that a particle can't travel through planets, but in truth, exotic particles named neutrinos can do it. And that was exactly the idea behind a recent experiment at Rochester.

Physicists at Rochester just sent a binary message spelling out "neutrino,z" encoded in neutrinos through 780 feet of pure stone. Yes; the neutrinos traveled through it. Unfortunately, this type of technology won't be available any time soon unless you're willing to buy your own particle accelerator (and they aren't so cheap). However, it is quite a creative idea that could one day revolutionize the world of wireless internet.
