Just as the iPad 2 came out and Steve Jobs talked a lot (and I mean A LOT) of trash about tablet competitors, Jerry Shen, CEO of Asus, expects to be 2nd in the tablet market by 2012. He says ASUS will make a 3D tablet. I'm really wondering why other companies have been planning to make 3D smartphones, not tablets. I think 3D would be nicer on a tablet. Asus also promises devices with Intel Atom processors MeeGo and Android platforms. Mr. Shen even says that ASUS will make a smartphone running on Windows Phone by 2012. Just when I thought ASUS was running out of steam...
Update: I now know the details! This 3D tablet will have a quad-core processor. Yes, many computers don't even have 4 cores! The iPad recently got 2, and used to have only 1! This tablet will be able to stream videos with resoloution even higher than 1080p! ASUS has been making mainly netbooks, but now, netbooks are getting replaced by tablets. If this tablet suceeds, which it should, ASUS will keep up with the "Post-PC era," to quote Steve Jobs
